The Russian BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle, developed in the 1980s for cooperation with main battle tanks, entered serial production in 1987 at the Kurgan Machine-Building Plant and was first publicly displayed at a Red Square parade in 1990. Accommodating up to 7 troops and a 3-person crew, it's armed with a 100mm 2A70 gun, a 30mm 2A72 automatic cannon, and three 7.62mm machine guns. Capable of 70 km/h on roads and 10 km/h in water, it serves in the Russian Army and Navy. First used in combat in Chechnya, it's also been employed in several other countries.
