Scale has never been used. The original batteries were installed as you can see in the photo with the back and yellow tab. The batteries had corroded as these were made in 2014 and unfortunately batteries come pre-installed. I discarded the batteries and cleaned the battery terminals. I inserted new batteries temporarily and powered on the scale with no issues.
