The product is made from recycled cardboard and is ideal for use as animal bedding, void fill in packaging, composting and vermiculture. This reused packaging material provides a comfortable and insulative layer for animal stalls, pens, coops, etc.; an inexpensive fill for protecting items in shipping; the critical carbon "browns" needed in all composting, and the perfect bedding for worm bins. One pound of shredded cardboard will fill approximately 310 cubic inches or 5,080 cubic cm (5.08 liters). It's a great lower cost alternative to wood shavings animal bedding. Cardboard is made of cellulose and will completely decompose in any compost pile or bin. It's excellent for red wriggles in vermicomposting but makes good bedding for any type of worms or insects like feeder crickets. Reuse of cardboard boxes and cardboard packaging material like this gives it a second purpose and reduces the amount of material entering the waste processing streams.
